About 400 Chickens Inspected for Bird Flu
About 400 chickens suspected of being infected with bird flu were culled Friday in Banteay Meanchey province’s Monkol Borei district after a died of the virus less than two weeks ago, officials said. Meanwhile, last week the Agriculture Ministry reported that H5N1, or avian influenza, had infected 29 wild birds in Takeo province’s Phnom Tamao zoo. Sorn San, director of the National Veterinary Research Institute, said about 400 chickens and several ducks were culled on Friday night in the same area the girl recently died after eating an infected chicken.
